Curriculum
Mandatory Tricks
To earn your Red Sling, you must have an Orange Sling Certification and perform all seven of the following tricks:​​
- Double Aerial
- Double Side Toss (Horizontal Catch)
- Hell's Whip Note: You will receive a Double Major Penalty if the rifle barrel does not go under the wrist at the release point.
- OTH Single Spin (No Looking)
- Single BTB Flow Catch (or Higher) Note: You will receive a Double Major Penalty if the rifle does not see any air time or is performed out of any maneuver but a C-Set or Rising Sun Exit (such as Right Shoulder Tosses)
- Foot Stop Or BTB Foot Stop
- Right Handed Drag Note: You will receive a Double Major Penalty if the rifle's butt plate doesn't swing behind your back.
Pick 3 Tricks
You must also perform any three of the following tricks:​

Red Slings are graded on the following curve:
Penalties
Minor Penalties: 1.00
Moderate Penalties: 2.00
Major Penalties: 4.00
Score
Minimum Passing Score: 80+ points
Maximum Score: 100 points
​As a reminder, it is customary, but not required, to begin and end your assessment with a Present Arms.
